Write a ReviewStrolling around the streets of Subiaco is always a treat, and today I found myself in front of The Tiny Saigon. Nestled on Hay Street, this place caught my eye. Known more for coffee than its name suggests, it seems like a promising spot for a caffeine fix in the heart of Subiaco.
Walking into The Tiny Saigon, I noticed the friendly vibe. It's a small joint, perfect for some quiet time. The place is easy to get into with wheelchair-accessible entrances, and there's plenty of seating options, both inside and out. The outdoor seating is a big plus when the weather's nice, which it often is in Perth. You can bring your furry friends too, as dogs are welcome here.
Though it's advertised as a coffee shop, the offerings are much more. The staff here is genuinely nice and welcoming. They know their coffee, which is always a big deal. I tried a regular flat white, and it didn't disappoint. It's smooth and rich, just like you want it to be. The aroma when they grind the beans is something else.
For those who might skip breakfast, this could be your go-to spot. I noticed they also do brunch, which is great because Subiaco has a lot of hustle-and-bustle during weekdays. Their opening hours are a bit unusual though; they're open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. So, you better plan accordingly if you want to pop in.
What's charming about The Tiny Saigon is that it doesn't try too hard. It's just a simple joint yet ample in what counts. You won't find overly complicated milk options or intricate syrup collections here. It seems they stick to the classics, promising quality over quantity. That can be refreshing in a world full of choices and wild coffee concoctions.
The no-frills approach extends to their menu, too. They offer delivery and takeaway if you fancy grabbing something on the go. The location is perfect for quick coffee before exploring all the other shops in Subiaco. It's also near the Subiaco train station, which makes it a great pit stop when you're on the move.
What makes Subiaco itself worth exploring is clear around every corner. Alongside the charming boutiques and stores, you can find delightful parks. The shady trees and green spaces offer a breather from the urban scene. Not too far away is the Subiaco Arts Centre, a cultural gem hosting various performances throughout the year. Perfect if you're keen on arts and culture.
Just across the way is Watson's Pharmacy Museum. It's not your usual tourist spot but worth a peek if you're into quirky museum experiences. Nearby, there's also the beautiful Subiaco Museum. It offers stories and artefacts from the suburb's rich history, giving some context to this lovely area.
Subiaco's streets buzz with life, especially during lunchtime. The foot traffic is steady, and you'll find everything from fashion to homeware. So after a visit to The Tiny Saigon, there's still so much more to do.
If you frequent or live in Perth, you know Subiaco has a rhythm of its own. It's a blend of suburban calm and metropolitan flair, giving its residents and visitors that touch of charm. I find myself coming back to this area time and again, not just for the coffee.
Speaking of, The Tiny Saigon is the kind of spot that easily becomes your regular go-to. It offers simplicity and that comforting familiarity every coffee lover craves. And when the pull to explore tightens, Subiaco offers such varied delights within walking distance. So even though the place might close its doors on weekends, there's always a weekday pleasure to be had inside.
All in all, The Tiny Saigon is doing something right. With a laid-back atmosphere and a focus on good coffee, it's hard not to leave satisfied. For anyone strolling around Subiaco, it's a worthy stop. This little coffee shop might not claim to be the biggest thing in town, but it's definitely on my list for a caffeine fix in Perth. I guess what they say is true, good things sometimes come in small, unexpected places.
