Write a ReviewWhenever I'm around Subiaco, I make it a point to pop into The Clean Food Store. Located right on Nicholson Road, it's got a nice spot that's easy to get to and has this relaxed vibe that I just love. I come here quite a bit, and even having visited many coffee shops in the area, this place still stands out to me.
Their coffee is pretty great and consistent. I'm a black coffee kind of person, so I like how they don't make it too acidic. For those who enjoy a creamy latte or a cappuccino, they've got milk options like almond and soy, which is cool. They really know how to keep things well tuned to the crowd, and that's saying something with the average 4.6 rating they've got on social media.
Their hours work for my constantly changing schedule; they open early and close late, especially on weekdays. Getting there early on a weekend morning feels refreshing as you get to enjoy the quieter pace. There's also something pleasing about sitting on their outdoor seats with a good drink, especially when the weather is nice. A big plus is the fact you can bring your dog along, as the outdoor area is dog-friendly.
They're pretty accommodating, making efforts with a wheelchair-accessible entrance and seating, which is very thoughtful. Not every place thinks about that stuff, but it's important. The staff is warm and welcoming, always greeting with a smile when you walk in.
Brunch here is a favorite—you have to try their smashed avo toast. It pairs perfectly with just about any type of coffee. They've got other healthy options that are just as tasty. The place stays true to its name, focusing on clean eating, but they don't skimp on flavor. Whether you're in for a sit-down meal or grabbing takeaway, you won't feel rushed.
For those new to Subiaco, let me tell you what's nearby. Right down the road, you'll find some lush parks to take a leisurely walk after enjoying your coffee. Market Square Gardens is a nice spot to relax, and if you've got kids, they're going to love the playground there. A walk over to Subiaco Arts Centre can be ideal if you're into checking out local performances and events.
Popping into some of the nearby shops is worthwhile too. Rokeby Road isn't far, and it's packed with interesting boutiques and stores. There's something satisfying about discovering a new favorite store or even just window shopping after enjoying a good coffee.
Within walking distance, you'll also find King's Park. It's my go-to when I have a bit more time to spare. The view of Perth from there is something you don't want to miss. It's amazing in the middle of the day with a pack of snacks picked up right before heading that way.
Now, focusing back on The Clean Food Store, their service is pretty quick, but not at the cost of quality. Plus, it's great for both catching up with friends or just chilling with a book in a corner. I tend to see a lot of locals coming in and out, which tells you it's a beloved spot.
Their social media is usually up to date with any changes or news about what they're doing—and because they don't run a traditional site, staying connected through their Facebook is the way to learn about any special events they might host. Following them is a good idea if you want to keep up with their offerings or any new menu changes.
Lastly, remember that parking can get tricky sometimes, but it's manageable. If you're headed over at odd hours—like right before everyone hops in for brunch—you'll usually find a spot without too much hassle. Or better yet, if you're biking or exploring on foot, it's an easy adventure.
So, when you find yourself in Subiaco with some time on your hands, do yourself a favor and swing by The Clean Food Store. The coffee's good, the folks are friendly, and you're bound to discover something you'll love.
