Write a ReviewPitcher and Iron sits right in Subiaco, a lively spot in Perth. I dropped by mainly for their coffee and waffles, and they truly hit the mark. The place mixes a café vibe with a sweet aroma and a cool, laid-back feel. Their hours stretch into the evening too, opening from 3 to 9:30 PM on weekdays and choosing the morning grind on the weekends, opening from 11 AM.
They win big on coffee. The baristas know their stuff, crafting the brew just right. I go for a strong flat white, which gets me every time. Waffles are their thing too, fluffy and just a bit crispy on the edges. You can top them with ice cream, berries, or whatever suits you. Every bite brings you back, and what better reason to leave your box at home?
Subiaco itself is pretty well-liked for taking strolls. Once you're fueled up, Rokeby Road isn't far. It's dotted with cute shops, so window-shopping comes easily. You won't feel guilty for picking up a book or two either, since Planet Books is close at hand.
Back at Pitcher and Iron, their seating arrangements stand out. Outdoor tables let you catch some air while taking in coffee aromas. Inside, it's not expansive but feels cozy. A mix of small and long tables invites strangers to become friends. Though they are equipped for those with wheels too due to the accessible park, entrance, seating, and restrooms they have.
Dogs mix in too, and honestly, who doesn't love a place where dogs are welcome? Perfect chance to pet someone's pup if yours stayed home. Speaking of home, if relaxed isn't your pace, you can grab your food to go. Delivery and takeout come easy - some days you just want waffles on your couch, right?
Staff here bring the place alive. They're friendly, rushing off with orders without messing up. Some places feel rushed, but at Pitcher and Iron, they pace things well. Between sips, chats flow, be it with a buddy or the server who loves the same brew as you.
Should coffee not tickle your fancy, no worries. Subiaco's got other choices too. A flick at Luna Palace Cinemas makes for a nice evening, and it isn't far from the café. It's got a mix of indie and popular flicks, so the choice is broad.
Places like King's Park are only a short ride from Subiaco. You could stretch your legs, especially if kids are in tow. Meanwhile, those with a taste for the arts might find the Subiaco Arts Centre worth a visit. Music performances and local theater provide bursts of creative inspiration within arm's reach.
I've noticed that Pitcher and Iron fits into Subiaco's laid-back feel easily. Being popular doesn't deter the warm vibe they exude. For those travelling in or new locals settling down, it becomes a staple coffee stop, a mark of what makes this place so darn loved.
Standing at almost a daily crowd-puller with glowing reviews, they really stack up in Perth's coffee scene. Their rated 4.7 out of 5 by over 500 folks. There's no snooty air, just pure, caffeinated delight.
Folks in tight-timing don't find it hard to blend in. And speaking of timing, their closing time suits those wanting a late cuppa post-dinner. It's handy, especially since a lot of Perth coffee spots shut before sundown.
At times I wonder whether it's those waffles that hooked me, or the easy way they seem to get me. Some places hit the sweet spot of casual and special. Pitcher and Iron, through my visits, really sits somewhere sweet like sugar on coffee crème.
