Write a ReviewI visit coffee shops around Perth a lot, and The Tribute Coffee and Kitchen in Shelley is one of my go-tos. The spot on Tribute Street West feels welcoming as soon as you walk in. It's a tiny place, but they've tucked in just what you need. The smell of fresh coffee lures you in, and the laid-back vibe makes you want to stay.
The coffee is really good here. They serve a smooth, rich brew that starts my day right. The baristas know their stuff. They pull shots that hit that sweet spot between too strong and too weak. I usually stick with a flat white. It never disappoints. If you're into other styles, they've got a decent range. You might have to wait a bit, as it does get bustling. But honestly, good coffee is worth a little wait, right?
Their menu covers breakfasts and lunches that suit most taste buds. On my last visit, I tried their eggs benedict with smoked salmon. Simple, fresh, and the poached eggs are always on point. They've got these tasty, smashed avo toasts, too. My friend swears by their bacon and egg roll; it's the comfort food done right. There's also enough on the menu for vegetarians. Love a good brekkie burger? The tribute doesn't hold back.
What I really enjoy is the option to sit outside when the weather's nice. Perth has plenty of sunny days, and their outdoor seating is ideal for basking in it. Plus, they welcome dogs, so you can often spot a cute pup or two lounging nearby. If you live locally, it's great to just stroll over with your furry pal and enjoy the day.
Accessibility is well thought out. The Tribute has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and seating. It's good knowing they've made an effort for everyone to join in. Nice to see places making the right moves on inclusivity.
Wi-Fi is available if you need to catch up on some emails. It's not too strong, but browsing or a short zoom call will manage fine. If work isn't in your cards, there's plenty else to check out around the area. Shelley's within arm's reach of a few parks, which are perfect for a walk post coffee or lunch. Head over to the nearby Shelley Foreshore. The river views there are just lovely, and it's a peaceful spot for a casual hangout or a brisk walk.
The Tribute is open every day. It suits various schedules with early opening times on weekdays if you're an early bird. On weekends, they open a bit later, so it's good for a slightly relaxed start. Come afternoon, they close up at 2:30 during the week, and around 2 on weekends. Perfect timing for brunch or an early lunch.
While they're busy enough, the staff handle it well. Service stays friendly and they move through orders at a good pace. They also offer takeaway and delivery if you're in a rush or just prefer your coffee at home. I've opted for takeaway on a busier day, and it's pretty seamless. They pack everything nicely, so no spills or mess.
Aside from coffee, they do juices and smoothies worth trying if you're not into caffeine. A friend of mine mentioned their green smoothie. Said it was fresh and balanced, without that all-too-common grassy taste. If you are up for a treat, their selection of cakes and muffins by the counter looks tempting.
Heading to Shelley is a bit out of the way if you're not nearby, but for coffee lovers, it's a worthwhile detour. The laid-back environment with good food and coffee offers an inviting escape from the norms. There's enough local charm to convince you to stick around for a bit longer. Or maybe just visit that extra time each week. Check out the surrounding areas after, and you'll find something new to love about Perth's quieter spots.
