Write a ReviewI only discovered Singular Coffee on Adelaide Terrace a few months ago, and it quickly became a favorite spot. The place opens bright and early at 6:30 in the morning from Monday to Friday. Since it's closed on weekends, I like to drop by during the week for my morning caffeine fix before heading to work. The staff is always friendly and seem to remember regular faces, which is a nice touch. If you're like me and enjoy walking your dog, you'll appreciate that dogs are allowed here, adding to the laid-back vibe.
I usually grab a takeaway coffee when I'm in a rush, but there are days when I like to enjoy a slow morning. On those days, I opt for dine-in. Singular Coffee offers delivery too, though I haven't tried that yet. The coffee here is top-notch. They get it right every time—strong but not too bitter. I love a simple flat white, and they've nailed it each time I've ordered one. The interior is modern, clean, and has just the right amount of seating. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance of being cozy yet lively.
The folks behind Singular Coffee seem to have put a lot of thought into creating a welcoming environment. You won't find a vast array of food options, but their pastries do the trick. I once had a savory muffin that was surprisingly delicious. Their offerings are more about quality than quantity, but given the quality, that's something I can totally get behind.
Being on Adelaide Terrace has its perks. It's smack in the heart of the city, so there's always something happening around. Just a short stroll away is the Perth Concert Hall. If you're in town for a show, grabbing a coffee here could make for a perfect pre-show stop. The Langley Park is also nearby. On sunny days, I like to grab a drink and take a leisurely walk through the park. It's an ideal way to unwind or maybe find a bench to relax on.
Down the road a bit is the Queens Gardens if you're up for a slightly longer walk. This hidden gem is a little quieter than Langley Park and offers a different kind of peaceful vibe with its pretty ponds and pathways. It's these moments of escape in busy Perth that I appreciate the most.
I once even took a friend visiting from Sydney to Singular Coffee. They were impressed, especially because the coffee was as good as anything they'd find over there. The place may be small and understated, but it delivers in all the ways that count. With a coffee in hand, you can explore nearby Barrack Street Jetty. From there, you can catch a ferry over to South Perth. It's one of my favorite little adventures to do on a free day.
Singular Coffee doesn't shout for attention, but it doesn't need to. It stands out just by doing the simple things right. When the sun is shining and I've got a bit of time, I love to sip my coffee outside and watch the city wake up. The rush of people heading to their offices, the tour groups checking out the nearby sights, everyone seems to pass by here. It's like being part of the heartbeat of the city just for those few moments.
Of course, not everything is perfect. The place can get busy around peak hours. The line for coffee can stretch a bit, but it moves fast. When you're in a rush, that little wait sometimes feels longer than it is. Yet, once you have your coffee, it's all forgotten. The wait is nothing compared to the quality you get.
For anyone new to Perth or just visiting, I would say start your day here. Whether you need a caffeine hit or just want a quiet spot to read, it suits all moods. Even if you're not a big coffee fan, their hot chocolate is pretty good too or so I've heard from friends.
When my family comes over during the holidays, I already know I'll be taking them here. We'll likely grab a coffee to go and wander along the River nearby. Perth has a lot to offer but finding spots like Singular Coffee makes the exploration even better. While In Perth, make time for this place. You might just end up becoming a regular like me.
