I've visited Meeting Place Kiosk in Hyde Park a fair few times now. Nestled right in the heart of Perth, it's a spot I find myself drawn back to over and over again. The kiosk is pretty easy to spot. It's right in Hyde Park and there's ample green space around it for those who want to sit outside. The park itself is quite a vibe, especially on sunny days when the flowers are in full bloom and the grass feels like a soft carpet underfoot.

The kiosk maintains a warm and inviting atmosphere that's geared up for everyone. It's got a wheelchair-accessible entrance, which is thoughtful. Seeing the pups lounging around or amusingly prancing about makes for a cheerful scene, as the place welcomes dogs with open arms. So, if you're like me and have a fur baby, this is a definite perk. Sitting outside on one of the park benches with a coffee in hand while your dog plays around makes for a perfect combo.

The first thing that hits you when you arrive is the smell of freshly brewed coffee. They open very early, which is great for morning larks like me who crave a caffeine fix first thing. I usually visit on weekends, and they're open from 6:30 am till 4:30 pm, so you can swing by for either a morning cup or an afternoon snack. Weekdays are slightly different with closing at 2:30 pm. While the timing might be a bit tight for office-goers on weekdays, a leisurely morning or afternoon coffee during the weekend is just about perfect.

Their coffee hits the spot most times, just strong enough without being overwhelming. I'm not a coffee snob by any stretch, but I do appreciate a well-made cup, and they don't disappoint. Their menu might not be as fancy as some other cafes, but it delivers the basics nicely. Expect your usual—flat whites, cappuccinos, long blacks. They have the option of takeaway, which is handy if you're planning a stroll around the park. Good coffee and exercise is a nice mix if you ask me.

Aside from coffee, they offer some light bites that are worth trying. The pastries are often fresh, and having something to snack on while you sip your coffee is always a treat. Simple, honest café fare that complements the coffee rather than overshadowing it. It's the kind of menu that's got just enough to keep you satisfied without making decision time too hectic.

Parking can get a little tricky, especially during the weekends when families hit the park. However, public transport is a viable alternative. Once you're there, the sprightly trees and little duck ponds make for a picturesque setting, perfect for those lazy Sunday afternoons. And if you're planning to make it a whole-day affair, you've got the rest of Northbridge just a short way away with its galleries, museums, and other cafes to explore.

For those with kids, the park has a playground right across, which is amazing for keeping the little ones occupied. This makes it a great spot for families. You can sip your coffee while keeping an eye on the kids splashing about in the water features or playing in the sand.

Sometimes, I find myself with a book in hand, sitting under the huge old trees, with sunlight peeking through the leaves. The atmosphere encourages you to linger longer than you planned. A friendly staff complement the whole experience by keeping the service smooth and pleasant.

The kiosk naturally becomes a place where people meet, be it a casual catch-up with friends, family outings, or even the occasional solo hangout. There's something genuinely comforting about this spot, with its homey and straightforward setup. It's got a way of making you stop and enjoy the simple things.

There are a few spots nearby you can check out when you're done with your coffee. Beaufort Street offers a string of interesting shops and eateries. It's always nice to wander along, popping into boutiques or grabbing something quirky from the markets. Also, not too far off is the Perth Cultural Centre. If you're into arts, it's worth a visit.

All in all, Meeting Place Kiosk is worth a stop. It's a place where good coffee meets good vibes. Next time you're around Hyde Park in Perth, take a breather here. You just might find yourself coming back, like I do.
