Write a ReviewI find myself drawn to little spots with lots of character, and Pinnaroo Cafe by Celeste fits the bill. Tucked away in Padbury on Whitfords Avenue, this place is like discovering a hidden treasure. The outside doesn't scream fancy, but once inside, it's like a calm oasis. They've got this cozy, laid-back vibe, perfect for a quiet coffee on your own or a catch-up with a friend.
The café has all the essentials you'd expect and a bit more. It's wheelchair-accessible, with wide entrances and accessible toilets. This matters because everyone should get to enjoy a nice café experience. It's kind of cool that they've thought of these things. Also, if the weather's nice, you can sit outside. There's something special about sipping coffee with the sun warming your back.
I usually find myself visiting on a Monday or Wednesday, but I know they're open weekdays from 8 am to 3:30 pm. It's a bit of a downer that they're closed on weekends; you'd think that's when cafes should be buzzing. But during the week, it can be nice and quiet, almost like your own secret spot.
The coffee here is pretty decent. I'm no coffee snob, but I can tell when someone's put some effort into making a good brew. They've got takeaway, dine-in, and delivery options. Sometimes, when I'm feeling lazy, I just get it delivered to avoid having to change out of my pajamas. They've got a solid brunch menu too, with the usual suspects like eggs on toast and some fancier options. If you're a fan of brunch, you'll be alright here.
One of the things I love about this place is how dog-friendly it is. I usually see at least a couple of dogs chilling outside, tails wagging, while their humans sip on coffee and chat. It's nice to see a spot where dogs aren't just tolerated, but welcomed.
Now, let's talk about the area. Padbury doesn't have heaps of flashy places, but that's what makes it cool. You're close to the coast, so you can easily have a morning coffee and head out for a beach walk after. It's only a quick drive over to Whitfords Shopping Centre if you need to grab anything. The centre has all your typical shopping needs and plenty of food options if you feel like grabbing a bite somewhere else after your coffee.
If you're into nature, there's Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park nearby. It's more than just a cemetery; it's a massive parkland. People visit for walks, and it's common to see wild kangaroos hopping around. You can have a peaceful stroll and just enjoy the quiet, which makes for a good follow-up to an easy coffee session at the café.
Kallaroo, neighboring Padbury, also has a few gems to check out. It's close to the beach, with views that could calm even the busiest mind. Mullaloo Beach is not far, where you can chill on the sand or take a dip in the sea if the weather's right. Nothing like finishing up with a coffee and hitting the beach for some relaxation.
In terms of getting there, it's a bit out of the Perth city rush. But this is a good thing. It means the café never gets too crowded, and you can always find a place to sit. I usually just drive, and parking is pretty straightforward. They've got a car park and it's wheelchair-friendly, so access is a breeze.
A regular visit to Pinnaroo Cafe by Celeste feels like taking a short pause from life. It's not trying to be something it isn't. It's just a simple spot where the coffee and company make up for any lack of fancy decor or bustling crowds. For my kind of café-spot, it nails the essentials.
