Write a ReviewI swung by the Dome Cafe in North Coogee recently, and it's a pretty chill spot right by the coast. Being a regular at coffee joints around Perth, I can say this place is pretty solid. The Dome Cafe is right off Medina Parade and Maraboo Loop, which makes it perfect if you're biking along the coastal paths or out for a scenic drive.
First off, it's got that classic Dome vibe. You know, consistent flavors, familiar menu, and those polished wooden floors. It's never too loud, which is nice if you want to bring a book or just chat without yelling. They serve from early morning till 9 PM every day, so it's fitting for both early birds and night owls.
The coffee is good, not spectacular, but it does the trick. Their flat whites are smooth, with just the right amount of foam on top. I think they really shine with their breakfast options. The big breakfast is filling and has this homely touch that makes it seem like Nanna's been in the kitchen. If you're into light bites, their sandwiches are great. Toasted just right, they're pretty easy to grab if you're peddling down to the beach.
There's something comforting about Dome's consistent menu, especially when you're a bit hangry. If you're a morning or brunch person, the avocado toast with a poached egg is a safe bet. They've also got scones that pair nicely with a flat white for a sweet finish.
It's got decent seating inside, but on a sunny day, the outside tables are the winners. Being close to the shore, you can feel that ocean breeze, which is unbeatable. Also, if you're into bringing your furry friend along, you're in the clear. Dogs are welcome at their outdoor seating area. You often see a few well-behaved pups hanging out while their owners sip coffee.
For those who need accessibility, Dome's got you covered. The entryways, parking, seating, and restrooms are wheelchair friendly. It's comforting to see places embracing inclusivity, letting everyone enjoy a cuppa.
There's Wi-Fi available if you need to catch up on emails or feel like scrolling through your phone. I've noticed folks with laptops working away, so if you have remote tasks to do, it's a cozy spot. Plus, being a stone's throw from the sea is inspiring when caught up in screen time.
What's cool is you're not just stuck inside the cafe's bubble. North Coogee itself has charms. After your coffee, take a stroll down to South Beach. It's close enough, and when the weather's warm, it's a treat to dip your toes in the water. The people-watching here is great, with kitesurfers and beach buffs out and about most days.
If you're into something meatier after coffee, head toward Fremantle, which is just a quick drive. It's known for its boutique shops and the legendary Fremantle Markets. A wander through there can be its own afternoon adventure, full of little stalls and unique finds.
For those keen on nature, Coogee Beach is an obvious choice. The Coogee Maritime Trail offers underwater treasures for snorkeling enthusiasts. Stay dry, and the Coogee Beach Jetty gives cracking views of the sea. It's one of those spots where you can blend the day with both leisure and light action.
All in all, Dome Cafe is not a game-changer, but it adds to North Coogee's laid-back charm. Whether you're passing by or looking to make it a pitstop, it's a place that's got the community feel without trying too hard. I guess that's the comfort of chain cafes like Dome; you know what you're gonna get, and sometimes, that's all you need. The coastal vibe is the cherry on top.
