Write a ReviewI often find myself drawn to the Coffee Bean House in Joondalup, a cozy spot in the Lakeside shopping area. The shop is tucked away on level 1, offering a bit of quiet amidst the bustling mall. The open hours are pretty decent, especially on Thursdays when they stay open until 8 pm.
As soon as you walk in, you notice how welcoming the space is. The layout is set up well for people with wheelchairs, which I think is pretty important. I've seen folks with their dogs in tow, enjoying the relaxed vibe—a nice touch for pet lovers like me.
The coffee here hits the sweet spot. They nail the basics, serving a good flat white or long black if that's what you're into. But if you're up for something a little different, they have a couple of more adventurous blends. The staff tends to know their stuff and will point you in the right direction if you're indecisive.
Their takeaway option works great for me when I'm on the go. But if you have time, grabbing a seat and enjoying the dine-in experience is worth it. The seating is comfy, and there's usually a nice mix of people around. I've caught students studying, folks catching up over brunch, and even a couple of brief business meet-ups.
Brunch lovers have some decent picks here too. Their avocado toast is simple but always fresh. The pastries are solid. I personally like their croissants—I bet they're made fresh daily. The vibe is unhurried, letting you really appreciate what you're eating without any rush.
Joondalup itself is a pretty cool spot. You've got the shops for browsing or picking up stuff you need. The mall has everything, from fashion to tech, and everything in between. Plus, there's the cinema just down the way if a movie strikes your fancy after your coffee fix.
Outside the mall, the area has parks and scenic spots. Yellagonga Regional Park isn't too far if you're into nature walks or birdwatching. It gives you a nice breather from any city rush. If you're up for a bit of retail therapy, Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City should fit the bill nicely.
The Coffee Bean House is usually busy but not overly so. Weekends might see a bit more of a crowd, but I've always found a spot to park myself. There's something easygoing about the place, maybe it's the friendly staff or the familiar hum of a coffee grinder, but it feels like a bit of a second home.
If you find yourself needing something stronger than coffee, the area around Joondalup has some good pubs as well. A little bar-hopping or chilling at one of the local watering holes could cap off a pleasant day out.
Parking isn't much of an issue thanks to the mall's facilities. They have well-marked spots, including for those who need accessible options. Getting in and out is seamless, which is crucial on busy days.
I've had friends meet up here and they usually leave pleasantly surprised. The welcoming vibe leaves a lasting impression. Whenever I chat with the staff, there's friendly warmth and a desire to make sure I'm well looked after.
If there's anything lacking, it might be that it's still part of a busy mall setting. Sometimes, you wish it was a standalone spot with a bit more personality. But that doesn't really overshadow the positives, at least not for me.
Being a coffee enthusiast around Perth, I've seen places come and go. Yet, there's a reason why I come back to this one repeatedly. It's got the right mix of good coffee, friendly faces, and a pleasant setting.
The area around Joondalup is always evolving, bringing new places to explore. Yet this coffee shop holds its own, instead of getting lost in the noise. For a casual catch-up or a quick coffee break, it's hard to beat.
I can see myself stopping by on a lazy Sunday, slipping into my usual spot, flat white in hand. This familiarity, in a sea of ever-changing choices, truly makes it special.
