Write a ReviewWaffee in Fremantle has become a usual stop in my coffee journey. Tucked away on Queen Street, it's easy to spot next to the colorful street art that Fremantle is known for. The vibe here is laid back, just like most spots in Fremantle. I've tried quite a few coffee places around town, and Waffee definitely stands out.
When I walk into Waffee, the first thing I notice is the smell of coffee and waffles mixing in the air. The name Waffee makes sense when you catch a whiff of that combo. The menu offers standard coffee choices, but the waffles are where it gets interesting. I usually go for a flat white, but I'd highly suggest trying their iced coffee on a hot day.
The waffle menu isn't huge, but the options are tasty. Some days call for the classic waffle with syrup. Other days, I get adventurous and choose one with all sorts of toppings like fruits and cream. It's a little café, but they also have decent options for a light lunch. I like that they offer kerbside pickup and delivery, which is handy on busy days.
I often sit outside if it's not too crowded. There are a few tables, and if you're lucky you can snag one under an umbrella. Dogs are welcome here, and it's a cozy spot to hang out with a four-legged friend. You'll see a few locals stopping by with their dogs, often greeted with a treat from the friendly staff.
Speaking of the staff, they've always been kind and efficient. Even during busy times, I've never felt that my order was rushed or ignored. It might be because they manage their hours wisely, opening early enough for the morning crowd and staying open till late at night on Tuesdays.
Fremantle's charm adds an extra layer to visiting Waffee. After grabbing coffee, I sometimes wander down to the Fremantle Markets, which are just a short walk away. They've got everything from fresh produce to little trinkets that are fun to browse. A visit here feels like a small adventure in itself.
Another favorite in the area is the Fremantle Prison. It's nearby and makes for a fascinating afternoon tour. The history there is intriguing, and it gives a real sense of the past convict life. I've done it a couple of times, and every tour seems to bring out new details.
If I have a bit more time, I'll head to the Esplanade Park or Bathers Beach. They're perfect places to relax with a takeaway coffee in hand. In the evenings, the sunsets are pretty amazing, especially from the beach. There's nothing quite like sipping on a good coffee while watching the waves roll in.
Evaluation-wise, the crowd at Waffee is a mix. From people stopping in for a quick coffee on their way to work to students lingering with laptops, you get a good sense of local life here. Regulars are greeted as friends, and it gives a welcoming feel to newcomers.
Public transport makes getting to this spot easy enough. You can take a train to Fremantle station and walk a bit to reach Queen Street. Parking is generally manageable, though it might get a little tight on weekends, typical of Fremantle.
The downside? They're closed on Sundays. It's a bummer if you're craving a Sunday afternoon coffee. But their excellent coffee and waffles make up for that.
As for the place itself, it's clean and keeps a relaxed atmosphere. The decor is simple yet pleasant, not distracting from what matters – coffee and waffles. Occasionally, there's some light music playing, adding to the casual vibe.
In the end, Waffee's not just about coffee. It's a nook in Fremantle that brings together good coffee, tasty waffles, and a sense of community. A true gem in Perth's coffee scene, helping make this city feel like home.
