Mr Chapple sits snugly in Fremantle, just off South Terrace. A bright spot for coffee-goers, this place is easy to find. As a regular coffee lover around Perth, I've had my fair share of lattes and flat whites. Mr Chapple stacks up quite well. It's not just the coffee here that pulls you in, though. The vibe is laid-back, and you feel right at home among the friendly staff and mixed crowd. Whether it's uni students fiddling with laptops or families brunching, it's a blend that just works.

I come here often because it feels like a second home. The best time to visit is usually in the morning when they first open. The coffee smells are strong and fills the air, pulling you in like a magnet. Their opening hours work wonders with my schedule, especially on days I'm searching for late-night caffeine. Open until 1 am on weekends, they've got insomniacs and night owls covered. This flexibility beats any place that decides to shutter at sundown.

The coffee? Solid. I've sipped on many a cappuccino here. Smooth, with just the right amount of froth. I'm not too picky, but what sets their brew apart is a consistency many places miss. They'll toss in a smooth latte with a pretty froth design if you're into artsy cups – Instagram-ready, some say.

Beyond coffee, they offer more for those who need a bite, with breakfast and brunch options aplenty. I've tried the big brekky a couple of times. Solid portions, eggs just right, and crispy bacon that's got a good crunch. They make room for vegetarian bites too, if you swing that way. I haven't tried delivery yet, but nice to know if I ever fancy a coffee from the sofa, it's an option.

The place welcomes dogs too, if you've got a furry friend that needs their own outing. Outdoor seating is ample enough, so you and your pooch can soak up the Freo sunshine – something rare in other cafes. Wheelchair access is well thought out with car parks, seating and toilet facilities. It's nice to see them cater to everyone without cutting corners.

The local area is lively, with a lot to offer if you're restless after your brew. Just down the road sits the famous Fremantle Markets, a must-visit for local goods and lively energy. Pop over to the nearby Fremantle Prison if history is your thing; it's a quick jaunt and worth exploring. Hit up the Cappuccino Strip for more cafes and people watching, especially during the summer when Freo buzzes like no place else.

Mr Chapple is set in The Old Synagogue, which has vibes that echo throughout, blending history with modern charm. If you fancy a change of scene, Little Creatures Brewery isn't too far away, offering a lively alternative to wind down with some craft beer. The working docks offer a backdrop that's simply unparalleled.

I've sat here many times, working through a novel or just people watching. Wi-Fi's solid, which is always needed for when I forget to download my podcast before heading out. If there's ever an issue with the wifi, there's just too much to see around Freo to miss going offline for a bit.

The crowd is a great mix. Locals, tourists, students, and the odd business meeting happening in the corner. A regular spot but fresh enough to surprise every now and then. Once I even found myself in casual conversation with a tourist from the UK, just off a walk through Fremantle and needing a coffee fix like the rest of us.

The service here is good too, usually quick and friendly. They'll chat if it's quiet, or move swiftly about the place balancing plates and mugs with grace during rush hours.

Not all reviews are glowing but most regulars, including myself, find it meets expectations. Each visit might have its quirks but that's part of the charm. It's like a well-worn pair of jeans – comfortable, reliable, and just about perfect for any casual outing.

Overall, Mr Chapple is my go-to in Fremantle for a low-key hangout spot with steady service. Whether it's the late opening hours, welcoming dog policy, or central location, it keeps folks coming back. There are other spots in the area, but Mr Chapple stands its ground, offering what's needed for anyone from early risers to the midnight wanderers.
