Write a ReviewWhenever I'm in Fremantle, I can't resist dropping by La Chiquita Cafe. This spot is a gem among the many cafes scattered around Perth. Maybe it's the laid-back vibe, or perhaps it's the delightful coffee. Either way, there's something about it that keeps drawing me back.
The first thing you'll notice when you walk in is the warmth. The cafe sits conveniently on Point Street, not far from the usual hustle of Fremantle. The location is perfect. After grabbing a coffee, you can easily head to the historic Fremantle Markets or the Maritime Museum. There are loads of art galleries nearby too, just in case you're feeling a bit cultural.
La Chiquita offers a diverse menu with something for everyone. They are open from 6 am most days, which is fantastic if you're an early bird. Saturdays start a bit later at 7 am and on Sundays, you can have a leisurely sleep-in since they open at 9 am. The cafe shuts shop at 4 pm but on Sundays, you better grab your cuppa before 2 pm.
A big plus for me is their great variety of seating options. You can choose to sit indoors and enjoy the cozy vibe or take advantage of the outdoor seating. On a sunny day, there's nothing better than sipping coffee under the Perth sun. Plus, they're pretty dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along. It's always nice to see other folks coming in with their pets.
The service is friendly and straightforward. The staff here seem to genuinely enjoy what they do, which adds to the charm. You can tell they care about getting your order right, and they do it with a smile. The coffee is consistently top-notch, and you can tell they put effort into every cup. If you're thinking of trying something other than the regular espresso, their flat whites are a must.
I appreciate that they accommodate everyone. It's one of the few spots where wheelchair access isn't just an afterthought. They've got wheelchair-accessible parking, and the entrance is easily navigable. Inside, the seating is designed to be accessible too. These small details might seem trivial to some, but they make a world of difference for families and folks with mobility needs.
If you're short on time, takeaway is a good option. And if lounging isn't your thing, they also offer delivery. Although I've never tried the delivery service myself, locals have mentioned it's reliable. It's always a win when you can enjoy quality food without leaving your doorstep.
Now, food-wise, you're in for a treat. They're known for their fresh pastries and sandwiches which are perfect for munching alongside your brew. Do yourself a favor and try whatever baked goods they have on offer. I once tried one of their almond croissants, and let's just say, it was unforgettable. The freshness shines through, making every bite a pleasure.
Sometimes, I meet up with friends here after exploring the Saturday markets. It's a great spot to chill and recap the day. The ambience is always inviting, and you never feel rushed, which is nice when you're catching up. Even when it's busy, there's a sense of calm and you're never short of things to watch. Be it the art on the walls or people watching as they come and go.
Whether I'm there for a solo caffeine fix or for a casual meet-up, La Chiquita Cafe has never disappointed. It's gotten to the point where the baristas recognize me, which is always a nice touch. Kind of makes you feel like you've found a little spot that's your own.
If you want to mix a bit of history with your visit, round it off with a walk towards the Round House, one of the oldest buildings in Fremantle. Or, head towards Bathers Beach for a quick stroll. The surrounding area is rich in attractions, ensuring you're never bored.
At the end of the day, La Chiquita Cafe is the kind of place that makes Fremantle feel like home. If you haven't been there yet, it's worth a visit. I keep coming back, and it never gets old. Cheers to good coffee and great vibes!
