I've been bouncing around coffee spots in Perth, and Kinky Lizard Espresso Bar in East Perth has become one of my favorites. It's a casual joint that serves up some of the specialty coffee that hits the spot. Set on Royal Street, this place is a sweet little find. You can count on a good cup of coffee and some tasty bites here.

This place isn't pretentious, it's just got good vibes. Inside, it's always buzzing with people. You see folks typing away on laptops or just chilling out with friends. The coffee is delicious and never fails to put a smile on my face. I'm no snob, but these guys know how to brew it just right!

When I'm there, I like to sit outside. The outdoor seating is plentiful and perfect for soaking up some weekend sun. Whether you're with your dog or just by yourself, there's space for everyone. Speaking of dogs, they're allowed here, which is cool if you're out for a stroll with your furry friend.

The menu is simple yet varied, with some classic brekkie and lunch options. Expect to find your usual suspects like avocado smash, which is a solid choice every time. The bites are well-prepared and perfect for something quick. Nothing screams fancy, but everything tastes like it's made with care. If you're snagging a quick bite, the takeaway option can come in handy too.

Apart from the great coffee, I appreciate the fact they cater to everyone. Wheelchair access is available and well thought out, which is something you like to see. No-contact delivery is an option that's more about convenience than anything else. You can't always pop by, so having the option to get coffee where you are is nice.

While you're in the area, there's no shortage of things to look at or places to check out. East Perth is a delightful part of the city, with tons to explore. The free bus service makes getting around a breeze—a big plus if you're looking to explore the city further without worrying about parking. Claisebrook Cove is nearby and worth a peek if you're in the mood for a walk by the water. It's peaceful and always makes for a pleasant stroll.

For anyone interested in history or the arts, the Perth Mint isn't far off. It's a fascinating place to dive into some local history. There's also plenty of green space around for those who prefer to chill out under the sky. Queens Gardens is not far, providing a nice slice of nature in the city.

Back to the coffee though, Kinky Lizard is consistent. They are open every day, even early on weekends. There's nothing like grabbing a cup of coffee at the break of dawn. The staff are friendly and happy to have a chat, which adds something to the experience. You can tell they care about making you feel at home.

The ambiance here leans towards casual and comfortable. It's a good mix of relaxed and lively—a bit of a sweet spot if you ask me. It's an enticing place to hunker down with my favorite brew and people-watch.

And let's talk about the restrooms for a moment. They're clean, which is a tiny detail that matters when you're hanging out somewhere for a bit. It's another feather in the cap for this already commendable spot.

As a regular spot, this place checks nearly all my boxes. From the coffee to the people-watching, it's a place I keep coming back to. When it comes to exploring the city for great coffee, Kinky Lizard ranks high on my list. It's not just about that cup of coffee but the entire experience. Easygoing atmosphere, friendly service and a good location make it stand out. If you're around East Perth and craving a good drink—or a little slice of life—this spot's a must.
