Write a ReviewI've dropped by Caversham Cafe quite a few times now, and I've got to say, it's become one of my go-to spots in the area. This little cafe is tucked away on Suffolk Street, kind of a hidden gem in Caversham! You wouldn't think much of its location at first. But, let me tell you, it really delivers on what counts - great coffee and solid vibes.
They've got this cozy, welcoming feel the moment you step in. The baristas are always up for a chat, which I love. Even if it's busy, they somehow make time for a friendly word or two. The service here feels genuine. They know their regulars by name and there's a real community spirit.
Now, the coffee. It's spot on every single time and made with care. None of that burnt aftertaste you get from some places. The beans have this rich flavor without being too punchy. If you're a fan of a classic flat white like me, you won't be disappointed. The milk is steamed just right - creamy and smooth. They also offer a bunch of other milk options for anyone who's dairy-free.
Their food menu isn't huge but everything on it seems pretty well thought out. They focus more on quality than variety, which is another reason I keep going back. The avo smash is a winner, especially with a poached egg on top. Sundays are great because they serve a mean brunch menu that always hits the spot. Plus, they're dog-friendly, so you'll often see folks with their furry pals relaxing out front.
Accessibility is another plus for Caversham Cafe. The cafe is completely wheelchair accessible, which is something you don't always think about, but it matters. It's got accessible parking, entrance, seating, and even the bathroom is designed with everyone in mind.
The takeaway service here is quick if you're on the run. But honestly, it's worth taking a moment to sit and soak in the environment, even if it's just for a few minutes.
On weekends, Caversham can get pretty busy, and this cafe is no exception. Saturdays and Sundays especially draw a crowd, probably because they're one of the few spots open around here on those days. They close earlier on Saturdays, so I usually aim to get in before midday to avoid missing out.
If you have some spare time after your coffee break, why not check out the surroundings? The Caversham Wildlife Park is just around the corner. Super handy if you've got the kids, or if you're one of those folks who just love animals.
Another place worth checking out is the Swan Valley, just a short drive away. It's perfect for a leisurely afternoon. Wineries, breweries, and boutique stores dot the landscape. There's a chocolate factory nearby which is a delight for anyone with a sweet tooth.
And if you're craving something more active, there are some nice walking trails nearby too. They offer a bit of quiet and nature, away from the city's hustle. Sometimes, I find myself wandering those trails, coffee still in hand, just enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
For a small suburb, Caversham offers a surprising amount. The cafe, with its friendly staff and top-notch coffee, is definitely a draw in its own right. But the extras make it worth spending a bit more time in the area. You drink your coffee, wander about, maybe pop into the wildlife park, or take a scenic drive through the valley.
I'd recommend Caversham Cafe to anyone needing a break from the city buzz. It's just one of those places where time seems to slow down a bit. Nothing feels rushed, and everyone's just kind of easy-going. Perfect for a bit of downtime with a great cup of coffee.
