I've been to quite a few coffee spots around Perth, and My Hungry Bear Cafe in Butler really stands out. It's tucked away in the Lukin Shopping Centre, which is a good location. Not hard to find parking, and the area has some charm.

This cafe has a solid following, and I can see why. It's small yet cozy, with wooden tables and a few comfy chairs. It's one of those places where you can either grab a quick coffee or sit down for a bit. They open early, which is nice because I'm an early bird. I usually hit it before work hours and catch the quiet moments before it gets busy. They close at 2 pm though, so it's more of a daytime spot.

The coffee? Top-notch. Smooth, with just the right kick to start the day. If you're not a fan of bitter brews, I think you'll still like their blend. It's balanced and just works. Plenty of folks seem to agree, given the good reviews and constant patrons. I'd say the average rating of 4.5 out of 5 is pretty justified.

Food-wise, they do a solid breakfast. Their brunch menu has variety, from classic eggs on toast to more hearty options. The portions are generous without being overwhelming. It's not super fancy stuff, but it hits the spot. I've had their pancakes, and let me tell you, they don't skimp on the syrup. They also allow dogs, so you see a lot of pooches hanging around the outdoor seating area. A big plus for dog owners who don't want to leave their furry friends at home.

The space is welcoming, accessible to all, which is important these days. You've got enough room to maneuver if needed, and there's a ramp at the entrance for wheelchair users. The inside is clean, and the staff keeps it that way, which is always nice to see. Plus, they seem to genuinely care about service. Even when it's busy, the staff remains friendly and upbeat.

Now, for those who aren't just here for the food and coffee, the surrounding area has some neat spots to check out. While in Butler, taking a stroll through one of the nearby parks can be a relaxing treat. Kingsbridge Park isn't far, and it's got a nice walking path a playground for the kids. If shopping's more your speed, there's a decent array of local shops around the center too. You can pop by some stores while you're in the area. It's an ideal pitstop for an errands-filled morning.

Butler might seem like just another suburb, but it's got some hidden gems. The cafe has that local feel but doesn't skimp on quality. On the weekends when they're open, it has a bit of a buzz. People chatting over meals, someone reading a book in the corner, you get a real sense of community. The only downside is they're closed Sundays, so plan around that.

For families, the place is kid-friendly as well. They've got high chairs and a kid-friendly menu to keep the little ones satisfied. It gets points for being a thoughtful place. Plus, they do takeaway, which is perfect when you want something quick. Grab a latte to go and hit one of the local parks for a walk, maybe.

In sum, My Hungry Bear Cafe is worth a visit if you find yourself in Butler or nearby. More than just a coffee stop, it offers warmth and charm, in both service and setup. Not many places around tick as many boxes: good coffee, nice food, dog-friendly, and all-around accommodating. If your travel takes you past Butler, make sure to drop in. It's these kinds of places that make mornings better.
