I swing by Dome Cafe in Bassendean pretty often. It's on West Rd and it's a neat spot to grab a coffee or bite. Although not the fanciest cafe around, the vibe here is chill. The staff always seem busy, but they've got ordering down pat. Don't expect a five-star meal, but you'll leave with a happy belly.

Dome Cafe feels like a small community hub. With plenty of regular faces sipping coffee, it's clear this place has a loyal following. If you've got any access needs, Dome's got you covered. The space is wheelchair-friendly, which matters a lot to those who need it, and they even have a restroom that's easy to use for everyone.

Usually, I grab a flat white, but they've got a big menu if you're feeling peckish. I've tried their brunch; it's comforting and tasty. Pancakes, eggs, toast—the usual suspects, you know? Plus, if you just want to take something to go, they've got takeaway sorted too. You can sit in, but they'll also deliver to you if you'd rather relax at home.

From what I've noticed, this Dome location seems to attract a spectrum of people. There are the solo coffee sippers, study groups taking advantage of the Wi-Fi, and families with kids in tow. It's one of those places where dogs are welcome too. You might see a wagging tail or two on your visit.

Speaking of what's around, Bassendean has some cool stuff to check out. Just a short way from the cafe is the Bassendean Shopping Village. You can get a bit of retail therapy if that's your thing. Also nearby is the Bassendean Oval. If you're into sports or just like a nice walk, it's worth a look. Not to mention the beautiful Swan River isn't too far off either, perfect for a waterfront stroll.

Hours here are convenient as they stay open pretty late. They're open all week from six in the morning until nine at night. Those hours work well if you're grabbing an early coffee or late-evening snack. You don't have to rush, which is a bonus when you're trying to squeeze in some peace during the day.

The café isn't just about coffee and eats. Dome has a comfortable vibe that's somewhat like stepping into a friend's living room. The interior has that classic coffee shop style—bit of wood, a few booths. You can't miss their comfy couches. I've spent a good few hours just relaxing there, either people watching or catching up with friends. Conversations flow easily, and time slips away.

I recommend trying the cakes if you have a sweet tooth like me. They've got quite the selection and they don't disappoint. Their carrot cake is moist with just the right amount of sweetness. And you'll find the usual suspects like chocolate or vanilla slices if you prefer.

What's more, Bassendean's got a few parks scattered about, so you can grab a coffee and head out for some fresh air. The Cyril Jackson Park is another option if you want to sit outside and enjoy a book. Whether you're stopping by Bassendean for the day or just passing through, Dome Café is a handy spot to rest your feet and fuel up.

What else might interest you? The Bassendean Hotel is not too far, which is handy for those looking to extend their evening with a pint or meal. Or, if you're a history buff, the Western Australian Rail Transport Museum offers a glimpse at some pretty neat exhibits.

If you're relying on public transport, Bassendean Train Station is quite close, making Dome easy to reach if you're hopping around the city. Parking is never a pain either, as there's ample room around the cafe. That's a plus when you don't want to circle the block a hundred times.

Whether you're in for a quick coffee or plan to spend a bit more time, Dome is well-placed, friendly, and cozy. Sure, it's not super-posh, but there's something to be said for a consistently reliable spot to sip your coffee and watch the world go by.
